An under-trial, charged with the murder of his wife, committed suicide in a Jharkhand jail early Thursday, police said.
Ratan Kumar Gupta was found hanging from the ceiling in the bathroom of Dhanbad district jail, around 240 km from here. He was brought to the jail Wednesday.
"Ratan did not show any unusual behaviour during dinner. It seems that he was under depression as he was arrested for causing death of his wife for dowry. He might have been implicated in the case which forced him to commit suicide," a jail official told IANS.
Ratan's wife was found hanging from a ceiling fan earlier this week. He was charged with her murder, police said.
