US apex court rejects to reopen Wisconsin governor case

The US Supreme Court on Monday ruled against an appeal to reopen an investigation into Wisconsin governor Scott Walker's case relating to the use of corporate cash in the election campaigns, media reports said.

The decision delivered a blow to campaigners who had hoped it would prompt a thorough review of the role of so-called "dark money" -- undisclosed donations passed through lobby groups -- in the 2012 recall elections, the Guardian reported.

The prosecutors called on the court to reinstate their inquiry which they alleged had uncovered an unlawful cooperation between Walker's campaign committee and lobby groups that supported the governor.

At the order of the top court in Wisconsin, the prosecutors' investigation into the links between Walker and third-party groups that received millions of dollars in secret corporate funding, was shut down in 2015.
