Ghaziabad, June 20 (June) Water logging, garbage disposal and freeing public land from encroachment are the major issues of concern for the Ghaziabad municipality, said Ghaziabad Municipal Commissioner C.P. Singh.
Talking to IANS, Singh, who recently joined took over the post, said that for a population of over 40 lakh, the city has major infrastructural shortcomings.
"At present, we have ample ground for garbage dumping but it will be insufficient if we continue dumping garbage on conventional way.
"We have to set up a modern disposal dumping ground, involve new ways to segregate garbage and dispose it off with a new technology. By this method we can avoid mounting garbage on a single point. The green disposal would be used as compost and remaining would be used for energy," he said.
As the rainy season is at hand, he also said that all drains have to be cleaned for the easy flow of water so that waterlogging could be avoided. After completing these two priority works, we will start freeing encroachments from public land, added Singh.
