A booming 'bribery' practice

Legal consultants at a recent event were gushing over the fact that bribery is helping their profession indirectly. That's because more and more foreign companies were hiring them to deal with bribery and corruption. The trend has accelerated after the recent passage of an anti-bribery law in the UK, a consultant said. This hiring pattern appears to be more in evidence in core industries. "In consumer facing industries, government policy cannot harm you much. But in a resources and manufacturing business, corruption is inevitable," the promoter of a resource company explained.
