Journalists tracking the power sector were in for a surprise on Saturday morning when they were told that Minister of State for Coal, Power and Renewable Energy Piyush Goyal's press conference to announce his ministry's achievements during his first 100 days in charge had been advanced by five days. Instead of the originally scheduled Thursday it was to be held on Sunday. Good media planning for coverage on a traditionally lean news day? The buzz among journalists on Twitter is that Goyal is hoping to get this presser out of the way before the Supreme Court's judgment on coal block allocations on Tuesday with all its anticipated controversy. Officials consistently denied the link but beat journalists, who are already irritated with Goyal's habit of being late for meetings and chopping and changing programmes at the last minute, are not buying it.
