Dikshit's view on Delhi statehood

Former Delhi chief minister and Congress leader Sheila Dikshit has finally broken her silence. Last week, she took on current Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over the Aam Aadmi Party's draft Bill seeking full statehood for Delhi. "The Delhi government cannot handle MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi) alone, how will they handle if statehood is granted," she asked. She added that her regime had demanded that the Delhi government be given some control over Delhi Police; it had also sought representation of the Delhi government in the Delhi Development Authority. "Looking at the situation, we don't think the government of India is in a mood to give statehood to Delhi," she said.
