Don't shoot the messenger

Does futures trading cause prices to rise? While the debate on this goes on, R Ramaseshan, the managing director of commodity exchange NCDEX, was asked for his view on the government banning futures trading in several commodities. He said, “The futures market is a messenger. There is no point in shooting the messenger”.
