At an event on "women in leadership" recently, Chanda Kochhar, managing director & CEO, ICICI Bank, explained how the concept of maternity leave has evolved over the years. She recalled how when she requested and was granted six months maternity leave at a time when three months was the norm, it made the news in a pink newspaper. Now, her bank offers not just six months maternity leave, but an extension if it is needed.
