Congress spokesperson Shashi Tharoor's wit came to the rescue when journalists quizzed him ad nauseum about the Congress party's huge defeat in the general elections. Was it Rahul Gandhi's fault, they asked. Sonia Gandhi's? Rampant corruption? Populism by the National Advisory Council? To forestall a direct answer, Tharoor quipped: "As the saying goes 'Success has many fathers, but failure is an orphan'. In our case obviously the opposite is true. Failure has many fathers and mothers as well, it seems."
