Fed's worse than the IRS

Federal Reserve chief Ben Bernanke may think he is doing a great job, as may many in the financial markets, but this view is clearly a minority position. According to a Gallup Poll released recently, Reuters reported, only 30 per cent of Americans thought he was doing a good job — the Fed was viewed as the least efficient of nine government agencies, including the Internal Revenue Service. In 2003, the last time Gallup polled Americans on their view of the Fed, 53 per cent said the Fed was doing a good job. The Center for Disease Control got the highest approval rating, with 61 per cent of Americans saying it was doing a good job.
