This refers to "Hunt for CVC begins" (February 17). It is not important who is appointed to the post of chief vigilance commissioner (CVC). What is intriguing is that the post has been lying vacant for over five months when the Narendra Modi led-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rode to power on the political agenda of fighting corruption. The BJP now seems to be more intent on conquering the country politically than tackling the issues bedeviling it. Political parties reiterate great resolves not to follow the wrong policies of the previous government during elections but once they come into power, these dissolve into thin air. Parties start hunting for people to fill political posts even before election results are declared but they forget to fill in time a crucial vacancy like that of the CVC.
