Shyamal Majumdar's column, "Mismanaging Rajan's exit" (July 1), takes a close look at the issues responsible for creating a bad situation needlessly.
Considering that we confront huge uncertainties that frequently require realigning policies and systems with the prevailing market forces, economics should necessarily take precedence over politics for enabling good governance. The post of the Reserve Bank of India governor should be independent without interference from any quarter.
