Prime Minister Narendra Modi's stopover in Lahore to meet his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif, on his way back from Kabul, on Christmas Day made headlines.

An internet meme provides an alternative, obviously fictitious, explanation for the visit. It has Modi calling up Bharatiya Janata Party President Amit Shah from his flight and asking, "What's for lunch?" "Bhindi (lady's finger)," Shah replies. Disconnecting the phone, Modi tells the pilot, "Please take the plane to Lahore." The cuisine of Lahore, in Pakistan's Punjab province, is famous.

It was also widely reported that Modi's favourite dish, saag, was among the vegetarian delicacies prepared for the lunch-cum-dinner at Sharif's residence.
