Ace spinner Harbhajan Singh may have come in for flak for his decision to not attend the Padma awards investiture in the capital, even though he was in the country, but he is quite willing to use the award for his own ends. Singh was in the capital on Wednesday to launch his new licensing agreement for a signature line of apparel and accessories, apart from a chain of restaurants called “Bhajji da dhaba”. License India, the organisation that is helping him manage his licence, put out a press release quoting him on the restaurant deal — the release spoke of ‘Padma shri Harbhajan Singh’. Which of course violated the code that the national honour is not meant to be used as an honorific, or in any other way.
