No more heavy lifting

UltraTech's acquisition of Jaypee Cement Corporation's Gujarat unit had helped the Jaypee Group reduce its debt by a substantial Rs 3,800 crore. When asked about the group's overall debt of Rs 56,000 crore and its impact on the current acquisition, Jaypee Group Chairman Manoj Gaur (pictured) responded, "I am like a weightlifter. But there is a limit for any weightlifter to carry a weight and smile. We want only that much weight that can make us smile. Selling the Gujarat plant allows us to lift as much as we can."
