One-upmanship?

Strange are the ways of the government. When Home Minister P Chidambaram scheduled a visit to the US without keeping the ministry of external affairs in the loop, the MEA managed to ensure that Chidambaram had to cancel his US trip. Now that an MEA functionary has briefed journalists on the terrorist threat to senior politicians, there are stories in the media, sourced to unnamed home ministry sources, saying there was no such threat.
