Business Standard New Delhi
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) started a race of sorts last week in Odisha by putting up posters of their respective leaders to claim credit for an oil refinery Prime Minister Narendra Modi was slated to inaugurate on Sunday. It soon turned ugly when BJD activists found that posters of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had been torn along a certain stretch of a road in Bhubaneswar. As the news spread, BJD supporters started removing posters put up by the BJP. Supporters of the BJP retaliated by blocking roads. The police had to intervene to bring the situation under control.
