Mumbai's business houses, most of which had staunchly supported Narendra Modi, have been openly celebrating the advent of a single-party government at the Centre with its prospects of stability and economic revival. But in the offices of one particular corporation in the financial capital, the celebrations bordered on the delirious. Not only were staffers given a free lunch and sweets but were also promised good salary increases if things improved in the coming years. Significantly, this company has been facing various lawsuits involving the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). "I wish Modi had come three years earlier - at least we could have received good increases in the last few years and no running around CBI offices and courts," an official said.
