Lack of awareness among bank customers, both in rural and urban centres, is posing a serious threat to depositors’ money. The situation was best described by a Reserve Bank of India deputy governor at a press conference in Mumbai. In his words: “What is the best thing about security? The password. What is the meaning of password? Pass the word. What a wrong definition we have!”
