Here is new National Security Advisor Shiv Shankar Menon’s pedigree: He belongs to the Palat family of Ottapalam, Kerala, is a third-generation diplomat from the family and one more in the long list of IAS officers, diplomats and administrators from Ottapalam. He is the grandson of diplomat KPS Menon (senior) and nephew of KPS Menon (junior) of the Palat family.
His father P N Menon was also a diplomat. Both KPS Menon (Sr) and KPS Menon (Jr) were foreign secretaries. So was he, of course. His father-in-law, RD Sathe, was foreign secretary as well as ambassador to China. Is there anything more to say?
