In Punjab, a gender bias is clearly in evidence in many political circles that consist of men. In one such gathering, women politicians' decibel levels were discussed at great length. A key observation made was that only shrill women make it big in politics, and the examples cut across party lines. "There's no place for the gentler variety in Indian politics," was the consensus.
