The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has expressed concern over the "deteriorating" condition of the loss-making cooperative drug factory (CDF) i n Ranikhet and asked the management to take steps for its revival.

Ajay Bhatt, the leader of the opposition, after holding talks with the unit's management, said, "The cooperative drug factory is running in loss and we have asked the management to take adequate steps for the revival of the factory."

The government-backed Uttarakhand Cooperative Federation had plans to expand its Ayurvedic medicines business and renovate the factory. But the plans failed due to financial constraints and other reasons.

UCF controls the two loss-making factories - a soyabeen factory at Halduchaur and the Cooperative Drug Factory at Ranikhet. The two factories have been running in losses, especially after the Sixth Pay Commission was rolled out.
