BSP MP sent to police custody in rape case
Metropolitan Magistrate Babita Punia allowed Delhi Police to quiz the BSP legislator in a case related to rape of a 42-year-old woman

A Delhi court Thursday sent Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) parliamentarian Dhananjay Singh to one-day police custody in a rape case.
Metropolitan Magistrate Babita Punia allowed Delhi Police to quiz the BSP legislator in a case related to rape of a 42-year-old woman.
Dhananjay was booked under Sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) after the woman filed a complaint at east Delhi's Pandav Nagar police station, claiming that the MP raped her several times at gunpoint.
"The woman, a government employee, alleged that she was sexually assaulted by Dhananjay at her house in east Delhi's Mayur Vihar Phase-I several times between July 2005 and March 2009," an officer said.
