Dharmendra Pradhan, a minister of state with independent charge, is considered a confidant of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Pradhan is a Rajya Sabha MP from Bihar. He was also the BJP in-charge of Bihar.
 

Pradhan started as an Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarti Parishad activist in 1983 and later joined the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha. Modi picked Pradhan out for his organisational skills and entrusted him with being the in-charge of Tripura in 2004, Chhattisgarh in 2008 and Bihar in 2010. He has also been organisational in-charge of the party in Karnataka, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand and Odisha. He is currently a general secretary and considered a rising star.
