Jaitley calls on Jayalalithaa in Chennai

Senior BJP leader is reported to have sought her party's support in Rajya Sabha where the NDA does not have the numbers

BS Reporter Chennai
Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today met AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa in Chennai. The meeting lasted nearly 40 minutes at her Poes Garden residence.

Jaitley left her house without speaking to the media.

Sources said Jaitely sought the support of the AIADMK in the Rajya Sabha, where the ruling NDA does not have the numbers to pass crucial legislations.

AIADMK has 37 MPs in Lok sabha and 11 in Raja Sabha.

This is the first time a senior BJP leader met Jayalalithaa after she was released on bail in the disproportionate assets case.

The AIADMK chief has challenged her conviction in a higher court.
