Jayalalithaa meets TN Governor, hands over cabinet list

She'll be taking oath as CM tomorrow at 11 am; 28 ministers will be sworn in on the occasion

All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) Supremo J Jayalalithaa met Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah today at Raj Bhavan. Jayalalithaa made her first appearance after nearly seven months when she went to Raj Bhavan from her Poes Garden residence.

She handed over a list of Ministers who are going to be in her cabinet. The number of ministers who'll be taking charge is expected to be 28. Her oath taking ceremony will take place at 11 am tomorrow.

Earlier in the day, Jayalaithaa was elected as leader of the legislative party by AIADMK MLAs. Soon after the meeting O Panneerselvam, the current Chief Minister resigned from his post, paving way for Jayallithaa to take over.

After accepting the resignation of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam and his council of ministers, Governor K.Rosaiah invited AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa to form the cabinet at the earliest.

Jayalalithaa had to leave the position of Chief Minister and assembly seat (Srirangam constituency) after she was convicted and given a four-year jail term along with Rs 100 crore fine by a trial court in Bengaluru in a disproportionate assets case. The Karnataka High Court upheld her appeal against the conviction and acquitted her recently.
