LDF candidate files nomination for upcoming bypoll

Left Democratic Front candidate and former Kerala Assembly Speaker, M Vijaykumar (CPI-M), today filed his nomination papers for the June 27 Aruvikkara bypoll.

Vijaykumar, who filed three set of nomination papers, came with central committee member EP Jayarajan and other party leaders, and submitted his papers to the chief election officer, officials said.

The by-election was necessitated following the death of former speaker, G Karthikeyan.

Congress-led UDF has fielded Karthikeyan's younger son K S Sabarinath as its candidate, while the BJP's candidate is former Union minister, O Rajagopal.

The last date for filing nominations is June 10.
