Tamil Nadu Chief Minister congratulated Sumitra Mahajan on her unanimous election as the Lok Sabha Speaker

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today congratulated Sumitra Mahajan on her unanimous election as the Lok Sabha Speaker, saying it was a fitting recognition of her long and distinguished career as a Parliamentarian.

"It is a fitting recognition of your long and distinguished career as a Parliamentarian and your dedicated service to the people whom you have effectively represented in the Lok Sabha," she said in her message to Mahajan.

She said Mahajan's "rich experience and maturity" were bound to ensure smooth conduct of the 16th Lok Sabha.
