Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today faced protest of RLD workers, who held demonstration seeking better prices for sugarcane farmers against their produce.

The police said over 500 RLD workers holding demonstration were detained.

RLD leader Satyaveer Tyagi also alleged the many party workers were injured after cops resorted to cane-charge, an allegation denied by police.
Party's state chief Munna Singh Chauhan said mill owners owe around Rs 2,400 crore to sugarcane farmers but the government was not concerned over the matter.
