Security forces today detected and defused a major Improvised Explosive Device (IED), planted by Maoists to target security forces, in a forest in West Singhbhun district of Jharkhand.
Sources said a team led by Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), along with local police, detected the hidden explosive in the jungles of Kiriburu in the district.
The explosive weighed about 20 kilograms and a 10-metre wire was also found attached to it, they said.
The IED was placed by Naxals to target security forces' patrol, the sources said.
