"Exemplary punishment would be given to the offender once found guilty at the Court of Inquiry," Joshi told journalists.
"We want strong action to prevent recurrence of such incidents," Joshi said adding that the jawan had already been suspended.
On Monday evening, the BSF jawan was arrested for allegedly passing lewd comments at a woman journalist at Shyambazar area in northern part of the city.
The jawan and some of his colleagues were coming out of a restaurant when he found the woman there and passed the indecent comments.
The woman protested and raised an alarm after which locals caught the accused.
