1 killed as cylinder explodes

One person was killed and at least 12 others received burn injuries when a LPG cylinder exploded in Dhandoor village, police said here today.

The victim has been identified as Jagdish (47), the owner of the house.

Rekha, Jagdish's daughter called for help when she found a cooking gas cylinder caught fire, police said, adding that after leakage of gas.

Meanwhile, the cylinder exploded, killing Jagdish on the spot, police said.

Two other cylinders placed in the kitchen also exploded following which the house caught fire. The family members and others who rushed to help also received burn injuries.

The injured were admitted to civil hospital, it said.
 

Two fire tenders took two hours to douse the fire, police said.
