Four extortionists were captured by residents of the Vijaypur-I village and after interrogation, others were apprehended.
The extortionists had been using wooden AK 47 rifles and letter heads of fake underground organisations to demand ransom ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 5 lakh, Riba said.
They have also admitted their involvement in extorting money from various tea garden owners.
