10 inmates escape from Mexican prison

Ten inmates have escaped from a prison in Mexico's Caribbean beach resort of Cancun, including some "highly dangerous" convicts, an official said.

"The escape took place at around 9:10 pm and the (prison) authorities counted 10 prisoners" who fled, a Quintana Roo state public security spokeswoman told AFP on condition of anonymity because she was not authorized to give her name.
