10-yr-old kidnapped child rescued; four held

A 10-year-old child who was allegedly kidnapped from his residence in outer Delhi's Prashant Vihar area has been rescued and three persons have been arresetd in this connection, police said today.

The arrested accused have been identified as Akhilesh, Chandan Singh, Manoj Kumar. A juvenile, who was also involved in the case has been held, the police said.

While the juvenile had lured the child and later abducted him with his friends on April 10, Manoj, who is a neighbour, was assigned the task to keep an eye on the movemens of the boy's family, DCP (Outer) Vikramjit Singh said.
 

On April 13, the kidnappers called up the boy's relatives for the first time and demanded a ransom of Rs 5 lakh for his safe release. With Manoj's help, they also got to know that the family had informed police, and kept changing their location from UP to Bihar, police said.

The police first zeroed in on Manoj and he spilled the beans on being subjected to sustained interrogation.

During questioning, it emerged that the child was first taken to Malda in West Bengal and once the accused became aware that police was after them, they kept travelling across West Bengal, Bihar and UP in train, police said.
