100 more model villages approved in JK, says minister

One hundred more model villages in rural and far-flung areas in Jammu and Kashmir have been approved for ensuring sustained development, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj minister Ali Mohammad Sagar said today.

The government has completed development work in model villages which were already taken up and the need of the hour is to adopt some more to enable people living in rural and remote areas get requisite facilities, he said.

The minister was addressing officers during a review meeting of the Rural Development Department here.

"Under the 13th Finance Commission, 1,800 Panchayat Ghars are supposed to be completed. Work has been finished in a large number of them," the minister said.
 

He directed the officers to complete work in remaining Panchayat Ghars.
