One hundred star tortoises, a protected species, were seized hours before they were to be taken on a Malaysia bound flight and two persons were detained, airport customs authorities said.
The tortoises were found in the personal affects of Suleiman and Leila Banu during baggage screening, they said.
The duo were detained and are being questioned, they said, adding the duo would be handed over to Forest department officials for appropriate legal action.
The seized tortoises would also be handed over to the officials, they added.
