Eleven-kg gold, allegedly smuggled from Sri Lanka, has been seized and two persons arrested in this connection by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence.
On a tip-off the gold was seized from a car last night, official said today.
The car, proceeding to Chennai from Kodiakarai was stopped at a check post at Kollidam and 110 gold biscuits each weighing 100-g were found during the search operation, they said.
The arrested persons were produced before a local court today and remanded to judicial custody.
