11 killed in road mishap in Karnataka

Eleven people were killed and 15 injured today when the tractor in which they were travelling rammed into a lorry near Hulkoti in the district, police said.

The victims belong to Koppal district and the mishap occurred when they were returning from an event near Hubli, Gadag Superintendent of Police K T Balakrishnan said.

The injured have been admitted to the district hospital, he said.

The only person onboard the lorry was the driver, who has suffered grievous injuries and has been hospitalised, Balakrishnan said.

"His condition is serious," he added.
