12 child labourers were today rescued from an eatery in the Dadabhari area of the city.

The children were rescued by members of the child rights organisation Childline India Foundation and anti-human trafficking unit.

A case has been registered against eatery owner Balbir Singh under the Child Labour Act, Circle Inspector of Anti Human Trafficking Unit of Kota Kaniz Faithma said.

The raid was carried out this morning following a tip-off about child labourers working in the eatery, Childline India Foundation Kota in-charge Anurag Meena said.

He said 14 labourers were rescued from the eatery and 12 out of them were found to be below 18 years of age.

The child labourers were produced before the District Child Welfare Committee (CWC), he said.

The CWC has sent them to two shelter homes, Meena added.
