12-yr RI for man for kidnapping, assaulting minor

A man has been awarded a 12-year rigorous imprisonment by a fast track court for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a minor girl about five year ago.

Judge Vivekanand Saran Tripathi also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on 30-year-old Sandeep, failing which he would have to undergo another year of simple imprisonment.

The court also ordered the Uttar Pradesh government to pay a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the girl on lines of jurisprudential concept of victimology.

According to the prosecution, the girl, then a month short of 18 years, from Alwar district, was kidnapped by Sandeep on June 30, 2012 with help from a juvenile and a woman three accuse also belong to Alwar), while she was performing Goverdhan Parikrama with family members, assistant government counsel Praveen Kumar said.
 

The girl was taken to different places for 45 days and raped repeatedly, he said, adding she was recovered from Ajmer Railway station.

The judge also took exception to the "mala fide intention of police which could not complete the investigation of the co-accused woman in four years.

It asked police to complete the investigation about her role at the earliest.
