14 booked for illegally mining sand in UP

A case was registered against 14 people for illegally mining sand near the Ganga canal here, police said today.

Police said the 14 people were were booked after a UP irrigation department officer filed a complaint about the illegal mining.

The canal was closed on October 3 and will remain shut until October 23 for maintenance, they added.
