Fourteen persons, including six women, were injured when the van in which they were travelling fell into a 100-foot gorge on Kallatti Road, about 30 km from here, today.
All the injured are being treated at the Government Hospital here, police said.
The van occupants, hailing from Chennarayapatna in Karnataka, were returning home after attending a condolence meeting near here when the mishap occured after the driver failed to apply brakes at a hairpin bend and lost control of the vehicle, they said.
Some members of the public managed to go down the gorge and brought the injured up after which they were taken to hospitals in an ambulance and private vehicles, police said.
