140 CISF personnel flagged off for UN mission in Haiti

A 140-member squad of paramilitary CISF was today flagged off for rendering United Nations mandated security duties in Haiti in the Caribbean island.

The contingent will render civil police duties and assist local police under the umbrella of United Nation Stabilisation Mission In Haiti (MINUSTAH).

The squad, led by Senior Commandant Nishant Sankale, has undergone training in weapon handling, crowd control and tackling of hostage situation among other security tasks.

The team was given a ceremonial send-off by CISF Director General (additional charge) Arvind Ranjan from the force headquarters here.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) is deputed on this UN mission since 2008 and this is the sixth contingent of the force to the country.
