17 killed in a blast at a restaurant in China

At least 17 people were killed today in an explosion that ripped through a restaurant in east China's Anhui Province, authorities said.

The blast took place at a private restaurant in Jinghu District of Wuhu City this afternoon and triggered a fire, officials said.

An initial investigation showed that the blast was caused by a gas cylinder, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
