Punjab Education Minister O P Soni gave cash prizes totalling to Rs 15.50 lakh to 18 meritorious students here Wednesday.
The students were given awards for excelling in Punjab School Education Board examinations - 2018, read an official press release.
During the award giving ceremony, the students were also given commendation certificates. Soni said good quality education was the need of the hour.
He asked teachers and principals to work diligently and improve the quality of education in the state.
The minister announced a cash award of Rs 2 lakh for the principal whose whose five school students bagged the cash awards.
