2 booked under National Security Act for violence in UP's Shamli

Two people arrested in connection with the August 24 violence in a village in Shamli district has been charged under the stringent National Security Act, officials said Thursday.

The duo -- identified as Shamsher and Mehboob -- were arrested on Wednesday. On the recommendation of the police, charges under the National Security Act have been slapped on them, District Magistrate Rajive Sharma said.

Several people were injured as two groups clashed in Purbalyan village in the Mansurpur police station area of the district on August 24.
