2 children drown in Purna river

Two children today drowned in Purna river while they were searching a ball, police said.

The incident took place when the cousins Jai Burghate (5) and Vedant Burghate (6), were playing with the ball on the river bank, sub-inspector S R Tale of Kholapur police station said.

Their ball went inside the river.While retrieving it, they got drowned, he added.

When the children did not return home, their parents launched a search with the help of locals. After some time, they saw their bodies floating on the river which were later fished out by the police, the officer said.
