2 cops suspended for alleged extortion

A police inspector and a constable were today suspended for allegedly threatening a trader and extorting Rs.10,000 from him here.

Food Cell ADGP ordered their suspension of Food Cell SI Kalimuthu and Constable Azhagarsamy after a departmental inqury against them, police said.

Police said the two policemen, in plain clothes, had demanded Rs 10,000 from businessman Murugan of Sellur after alleging that the edible oil sold by him was adulterated.
