2 dead, 30 ill in food poising at Chinese kindergarten

Two children died and 30 others hospitalized due to suspected food poisoning in a rural kindergarten in China's southwestern Yunnan Province.

Thirty-two children showed symptoms of possible food poisoning yesterday in Jiajia Kindergarten in Pinglong Village under Qiubei County.

They were rushed to a local hospital and condition of the five of them was stated to be serious, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

Two died after medical treatment failed and another five are in critical condition, a local government statement said.

The kindergarten has a total of 76 students, all of whom have been sent to hospital for medical observation, it added.
